Washington on Saturday added to its 2026 recruiting class by landing a quarterback from the East Coast.
Derek Zammit, a New Jersey product, has announced his commitment to Jedd Fisch‘s program. He becomes the eighth player of the class to pledge to the Huskies and is the highest-rated recruit of the cycle thus far.
Zammit, out of Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic, is considered a 4-star recruit by 247Sports’ composite rankings and is just outside the top 25 at his position. He’s also rated as the No. 5 player in the Garden State.
Outside of Washington, his final four included Alabama, Mississippi State, and Syracuse. Ultimately, the Huskies won out as they now have a quarterback for the 2026 cycle.
Washington was in a year of transition in 2024, thanks to Kalen DeBoer’s departure for Alabama after the retirement of Nick Saban. The Huskies then turned to Fisch, who won one game in his first year at Arizona in 2021 but turned the fortunes of the program around, going 10-3 in 2023. In Fisch’s first season in Seattle, the Huskies went 6-7.
