Ohio State just can’t stop winning. The Buckeyes rolled to the national championship in January behind a breathtaking amount of talent and toughness.
But apparently, Ryan Day and his program haven’t grown tired of coming out on top. This time, in late April, it’s the NFL Draft where the Buckeyes are dominating. First, it was that first-round showcase on Thursday night in Green Bay, where 4 Buckeyes came off the board, led by wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, who was taken at No. 19 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 4 first-round picks were the most of any school, because Ohio State can’t stop finishing first right now. Three Ohio State linemen were taken late in the first round to finish things off right, and that brought the all-time first-round pick total for OSU to 95.
On Friday night, those relentless Buckeyes were back at it, cornering the spotlight and, well, winning. There were 3 more Ohio State players taken in the second round, led by running back Quinshon Judkins, who was the 4th pick of the second round by the Cleveland Browns.
Fellow running back TreVeyon Henderson followed 2 picks later at No. 38 by the New England Patriots. Defensive end JT Tuimoloau capped off the 2-round show for Ohio State, going to the Indianapolis Colts at No. 45.
So, in just 45 picks, which is less than midway through the second round, an astonishing 7 Buckeyes were drafted, which was the most for any program. Texas, which lost to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinals this past season, was second with 5 picks, followed by Michigan, Georgia and Ole Miss, which boasted 4 picks each.
Ohio State was in its element, dominating and winning, and there are still 5 rounds left in the draft for the Buckeyes to showcase a dominant draft showing a little more.
