NFL Draft 2025: Former Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel selected in Round 3

Entering the 2025 NFL Draft, many of the top analysts didn’t have Dillon Gabriel in the top 7 of the quarterback class. He was looked at in mock drafts as a 4th or 5th-round pick in a best-case scenario for the former Oregon star.

However, the Cleveland Browns are a team that needs help at the quarterback position, and they drafted Gabriel with the No. 94 pick on Friday night. That selection made Gabriel a late Round 3 pick, coming in ahead of some very notable names in the QB class.

Gabriel became the 4th Oregon quarterback to be drafted in the last 10 years. He had a record-setting college football career, in which he played at UCF, Oklahoma and Oregon. He has the most starts and total touchdowns, while also having thrown for the 2nd most yards in college football history.

He helped lead the Ducks to the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff, while also finishing third in the Heisman Trophy race this past season.

One knock against Gabriel is his height, as he is only 5-foot-11. When teams take a quarterback in the first 3 rounds, there is an expectation that he will be contending for the starter position. With how Cleveland is set up, Gabriel could be in line to see some time this year.
