Will Howard is headed to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers took the Ohio State quarterback with the ninth pick of the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Howard, who played 4 seasons at Kansas State before transferring to Ohio State, made the most of his sole season in Columbus. He threw for 4,010 yards and 35 touchdowns versus just 10 interceptions, completing nearly 75 percent of his passes and adding 7 more TDs on the ground as he led the Buckeyes to a national championship.

Howard joins a quarterback room that currently contains Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson, with the Steelers also hoping to secure the services of Aaron Rodgers as their starter in 2025.

Meanwhile, there will be a familiar face in Pittsburgh for Howard among the Steelers’ rookie crop: outside linebacker Jack Sawyer, whose impressive work in the College Football Playoff was key to the Buckeyes’ first title in a decade. Sawyer was taken in the fourth round.

Through 6 rounds, the Steelers’ draft thus far only consists of Big Ten players, led by No. 21 overall pick Derrick Harmon from Oregon. Pittsburgh currently has a pair of picks in the seventh round, so we’ll see if that trend continues.
