LOOK: Michigan’s ‘Block M’ at midfield is off-center

When the first weekend of the college football season rolls around, everyone expects the stadium, field and all the cosmetic features to appear perfect. Preparing a stadium as if it were a cathedral is the expectation for that first Saturday.
So it’s probably a good thing that Michigan will be on the road to open its 2018 season.
Yes, playing Notre Dame in South Bend is no easy chore. It’s one of the most difficult environments in college football. Why would the Wolverines want to play that game outside of Ann Arbor?
Maybe Jim Harbaugh and company wouldn’t prefer a road game, but the team in charge of the field design sure would. That’s because the “Block M” at midfield of Michigan Stadium is off-center.
It isn’t off by much, but just enough to notice that something didn’t quite line up right.
The field turf team is off to an 0-1 start at Michigan.
With more than a week before the Wolverines play their home opener against Western Michigan on Sept. 8, there’s still plenty of time to make the correction and get everything lined up at Michigan Stadium.
