NFL Draft picks from Big Ten schools were a thing all weekend in Green Bay, and almost an all-time record.
The Big Ten did set the conference record for most picks in a single draft with 71. Had the SEC not outlasted the Big Ten this weekend and produced an astounding 79 picks, the Big Ten would’ve had the all-time record for a single conference in NFL Draft history. Alas, the Big Ten will have to settle for the conference record.
The previous all-time mark for a single conference in draft history was 65 by, you guessed it, the SEC, so the record was blown out of the water by the SEC and solidly outdone by the Big Ten with its glossy 71 selections over the 3-day event.
Together with the SEC’s 79 picks, the 2 conferences that rule college football on the field combined for an absurd 150 draft picks, which was an equally absurd 58.3% of the overall draft selections from Thursday through Saturday.
Not surprisingly, defending national champion Ohio State led the way for the Big Ten with 14 draft picks in 2025. The Buckeyes appeared destined for a lot more, having 13 draft picks through the first 5 rounds. But a little drop-off in the last 2 rounds of the 7-round event brought only 1 more draft pick from Columbus, so Ohio State had to settle for just 14. Still, that tally tied a program record for picks in a single draft.
Oregon finished second among Big Ten schools with 10 draft picks, while Michigan placed third with 7 draft picks. Northwestern was the only school that did not contribute to the Big Ten draft haul, finishing without a pick for the third time in the last 4 years.
