The NCAA transfer portal is closed for entry, and Ryan Day is thrilled not to have to worry about replacing any Ohio State scholarship players.

The spring window for undergraduate entry into the portal was open from April 16-25. It’s a midnight-to-midnight deal, meaning it opened at 12 a.m. on April 16 and remained open all the way through 11:59 p.m. on April 25. In an interview with ESPN Radio on Saturday, Day shared that he stayed up all of Friday night to make sure there weren’t any last-minute departures.

With the window officially closed, Day can finally exhale – and enjoy a cold beer.

“I woke up with a little bit of a headache, because it was a long night last night. That first beer went down cold after the portal finally closed at midnight, I can tell you that,” Day said in his radio appearance. “Holy smokes, what a world we’re living in right now.”

It is an impressive feat to hold onto players during the portal windows. Eleven Warriors notes that OSU saw 4 walk-ons enter the portal. But all the scholarship players on the roster during the spring session appear set to be with the Buckeyes for the rest of 2025 as they try to repeat as national champions.
