Oregon baseball completed a memorable weekend in Eugene on Sunday afternoon, grabbing a sweep-clinching win over Oregon State in hard-fought fashion. In the process, the Ducks carved out a historic win for the program.

At the plate, Maddox Molony was the driving force for Oregon, going 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI and a run scored in the 3-2 win for the Ducks. Jacob Walsh added the other RBI, but a lot of the attention goes to Oregon’s pitching staff.

Jason Reitz went 5 strong innings for the Ducks and surrendered just 1 earned run against the No. 3 team in the country. Four Oregon relievers followed Reitz while combining for 5 strikeouts and just a lone earned run allowed.

The Beavers were able to get the potential tying run on 2nd base in the 9th inning, but Santiago Garcia slammed the door shut with a strikeout. Combined with victories for Oregon at 4-2 (Friday) and 13-1 (Saturday), it gives the Ducks a clean 3-game sweep of Oregon State.

That’s significant as it gives Oregon the first-ever sweep of a top-3 team in the country in program history.

While the series does not impact the Big Ten standings for the Ducks, it adds to what will be a strong NCAA Tournament case come selection time. Oregon improved to 30-12 overall on the season and entered the weekend at No. 16 in the country, keeping the Ducks as a potential host site for the regionals.

Oregon is currently riding a 4-year streak of reaching the NCAA Tournament and is coming off a Super Regional appearance last season before losing to Texas A&M.
