Oregon football landed a pledge from 5-star edge rusher Richard Wesley late Saturday night, the Ducks’ 8th commitment of the 2026 cycle.

Wesley is a beast of a human being. He stands at 6-4, 255 pounds and, according to 247Sports’ Greg Biggins, is the “best edge prospect to come out of California since Kayvon Thibodeau.”

The 5-star edge picked the Ducks over offers from other elite programs such as Texas, Ohio State and Texas A&M, to name a few. He also holds offers from the likes of Georgia, Tennessee, Nebraska, Florida State and Miami.

Richard is a 5-star prospect by some recruiting services and marked as a high-end 4-star by others. According to 247Sports’ composite rankings Wesley is considered the No. 20 prospect in the country, as well as the No. 3 edge rusher and No. 5 prospect out of California.

So far Wesley is the 2nd highest rated prospect in Oregon’s 2026 class. He sits behind only Reidsville, NC ATH Kendre Harrison and comes in just above 4-star RB Tradarian Ball.

Wesley is the 2nd edge prospect to commit to Oregon this cycle, joining 3-star edge and fellow Californian Dutch Horisk – one of the earliest pledges in Oregon’s class.
