Ohio State is in the mix to finish the 2026 recruiting cycle with another top-notch class. On Sunday, the Buckeyes added to that group with a key in-state running back prospect.
Favour Akih, a 4-star running back out of Delaware’s Rutherford B Hayes High School, announced his commitment to Ryan Day and Ohio State. Akih announced his commitment over an official visit, picking the Buckeyes over a long list of offers that included USC and Miami.
Listed at 6-feet and 190 pounds, Akih is rated as a 4-star recruit per the 247 Sports Composite. He is rated as the 8th overall player out of Ohio and the No. 14 RB nationally. Akih also competes in track and field in high school.

The addition of Akih brings Ohio State’s 2026 recruiting class up to 14 hard commitments for the cycle. Among that group, 14 players have at least a 4-star composite rating, and the Buckeyes have a pair of 5-star commitments thus far.
Within the Big Ten, only USC has a better overall rating, with the Trojans currently holding the top recruiting class in the country.
