Purdue freshman WR Rondale Moore knows how to make a debut. In his first collegiate game, Moore set a Purdue record for all-purpose yards in a single game with 313 yards. Unfortunately, it was in a losing effort, but social media is buzzing (beyond simply Boilermakers fans) about Moore.

Here are five things to know about the star wideout:

1. He originally committed to Texas

On June 25, 2017, Moore pledged to the Longhorns. Jeff Brohm’s Purdue staff was said to be relentless in working to flip Moore, a product of Louisville Trinity High School in Kentucky where the Brohm family has deep ties. On Dec. 15, 2017, Moore visited Purdue’s campus. Four days later, he publicly decommitted from Texas. Moore announced his commitment to Purdue during the Army All-American game.

2. Other B1G and Power 5 schools wanted him

Purdue and Texas weren’t the only schools after Moore. His B1G offers included Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State, Minnesota, Indiana and Illinois.

Other Power 5 schools – notably Alabama, Georgia, Louisville and Ole Miss – recruited Moore as well.

3. Recruiting experts got some things wrong (and perhaps one thing right)

On the 247Sports Composite, Moore was rated the No. 41 wide receiver in the class of 2018. After his breakout performance Thursday, it’s hard to believe that there are 40 wide receivers that will be better at the college level than Moore. He was rightfully recognized as the top player coming out of Kentucky.

4. He might be small, but he’s also strong

As noted above, Moore is listed at only 5-9 with a weight of 175 pounds. Don’t let his size fool you– Moore is quite strong. The FOX college football account shared a video of Moore squatting some impressive weight.

5. He oozes athleticism and agility

With Moore, you’ll hear a lot about his height (5-9) and strength (squatting about three times his body weight), but there are more numbers to remember. He clocked a 4.33-second 40-yard dash time at The Opening competition camp. Moore also turned heads with a 42-inch vertical leap and a 4.01 shuttle time. The kid is an incredible athlete and should continue to be a joy to watch at Purdue.
