Michigan just registered one of its biggest recent wins on the recruiting trail, landing one of the best offensive tackle prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. The Wolverines also beat out some major SEC competition, too.
The player is Malakai Lee, a 4-star offensive lineman out of Honolulu’s Kamehameha High School. One of the top players from Hawaii, Lee had a final group that consisted of Michigan, Texas, Alabama and Georgia before making his official commitment live on 247 Sports.
In the end, his pledge went to head coach Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines:

Lee is listed at 6-foot-6 and 318 pounds and already has the kind of size and frame coaches want in offensive tackles at the next level. The 247 Sports Composite rates Lee as a 4-star prospect and the 10th overall OT in the country for the class of 2026. He’s also the 137th overall player, regardless of position.
Michigan has been on a tear on the recruiting path recently, and the addition of Lee brings the Wolverines up to 16 hard commitments for the cycle. That group consists of 9 players with a 4-star composite rating and 5 of the top 160 overall recruits in the country.
Lee is the 3rd offensive lineman overall to commit to Michigan so far in what should be another strong group of players in the trenches headed to Ann Arbor.
