Wisconsin is starting to heat up for the 2026 recruiting class throughout June. On Saturday, the Badgers pulled another key piece to the puzzle, this time in a Southeastern running back.

The player is Amari Latimer, a 4-star running back prospect from Sandy Creek High School in Georgia. His final decision came down to a final group that also included Michigan, Georgia Tech and South Carolina, but Wisconsin eventually landed his pledge.

Latimer is listed at 6-feet and 215 pounds and generated a host of prominent offers throughout his recruitment. He immediately becomes one of the highest-rated prospects in Wisconsin’s 2026 recruiting class to this point and the first RB pledge of the cycle.

The pickup is a good sign for Luke Fickell after the Badgers did not sign a high school RB in the 2025 recruiting class. Many in Madison will also hope Wisconsin is able to find a way to get back to better utilizing its running back room in the future.

In Fickell’s first 2 seasons, the position has underwhelmed, including the final season of Braelon Allen’s time with the Badgers in 2023. A lot of that has been placed on the questionable hire of OC Phil Longo, so there are key expectations placed on the next era of Wisconsin football with new OC Jeff Grimes.
