Michigan heated up on the recruiting trail throughout the month of June, and the Wolverines are capping the month with another key addition for the cycle.

On Monday, defensive back Andre Clarke Jr. committed to head coach Sherrone Moore and the program. Clarke was down to a group of Michigan, Kentucky, Florida State and SMU from a host of major offers prior to his commitment.

Now, he joins a top-10 recruiting class that could rise even higher:

Clarke is listed at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds out of Hermitage High School in Richmond, Virginia. He has played cornerback throughout high school but is rated as a safety for the next level.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Clarke is a 4-star recruit and the 16th overall safety prospect in the entire country. He’s also the 177th overall prospect, regardless of position, for the entire class.

The addition of Clarke brings the Wolverines up to 18 hard commitments for the cycle in an impressive class for Moore and his staff. So far, that group ranks 8th in the nation per the team composite rankings, trailing only USC and Ohio State in the Big Ten.

Moore delivered his first top-10 recruiting class as a head coach last season with a No. 6 finish, and he’s primed to double up this year.
