Ohio State has its quarterback for the Class of 2026.
On Thursday, Mission Viejo (Calif.) High quarterback Luke Fahey announced his commitment to the Buckeyes on his Instagram page. Oklahoma State, Stanford, and Indiana were also in the hunt for Fahey’s verbal, and all 3 of them hosted him for official visits between April and June. Ohio State got the last official, though, and the Buckeyes closed the deal.
Fahey is a 6-foot, 185-pound passer who is regarded as one of the better quarterbacks from the West Coast in this current cycle. He’s quick in his release, accurate with the ball, and adept at stepping up to maneuver a pocket or escape if he needs to.
In the industry-generated 247 Composite, Fahey is a 4-star recruit and the 24th-ranked quarterback in his class. He’s the No. 33 prospect from the state of California and the No. 356 overall recruit in the national player rankings.
Fahey is a multi-sport athlete with a background in lacrosse. That toughness certainly shows up on tape. He had 183 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns in 11 games as a junior last fall to go along with 1,638 passing yards and 17 touchdowns through the air. He completed 76% of his passes and didn’t throw a single interception.
As a sophomore, Fahey helped Mission Viejo to the CIF State Division 1-AA championship title. In 16 games, he completed 63% of his passes for 2,184 yards and 26 touchdowns with 6 picks while adding 496 yards and another score on the ground.
His pledge gives the Buckeyes their 20th known commitment for the 2026 class. According to the Composite, the group ranks fifth nationally. You can see Fahey’s highlight tape below, via Hudl:
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
