Tim Tebow is predicting major things for Ohio State in 2018

Tim Tebow doesn’t believe the distraction in Columbus is going to be a huge roadblock for Ohio State’s 2018 football season.
The former Heisman Trophy winner and current college football analyst made an appearance on ESPN’s First Take to talk about some of the bigger Week 1 matchups and ongoing storylines from around the sports. Of course, the situation involving his former head coach, Urban Meyer, and the Buckeyes was a major topic of conversation.
Some are wondering if the investigation and internal turmoil will affect Ohio State’s on-field performance this fall, potentially costing the Buckeyes a B1G title and a shot at the College Football Playoff.
Tebow doesn’t believe that will be an issue. In fact, he believes the distractions have actually brought the team closer together.
“I think it totally brings them together,” Tebow said. “I think it kind of already has brought them together. I think Ryan Day is doing a great job as the interim head coach. I know what it’s like to play for him when I was at Philly given it was for about 13 minutes because I got cut. But he is a really good football coach, and he has done a great job of really rallying that team. I know Mickey Marotti, their strength coach, has been really focusing on having each other’s back, us against the world mentality. I really think you’re going to see Ohio State rally together and play really well.”
After talking about the team as a whole, Tebow dove into some quarterback analysis, talking about Ohio State gunslinger Dwayne Haskins.
Tebow explained why he believes Haskins has the potential to be a Heisman Trophy candidate by the season’s end.
“I also think Dwayne Haskins their first-time starting quarterback, I think he has got a shot to compete for the Heisman this year,” Tebow said. “He is a really talented passer. He has been waiting for his moment. When he has had time to shine like he did against Michigan last year when JT Barrett went down, he really stepped up. I think this kid has the clutch gene. I think we’re going to see it.”
If Tebow’s predictions come to fruition, it would be a truly remarkable feat in Columbus considering all the off-field issues the program has faced over the last month.
Ohio State opens the season on Saturday against Oregon State.
