A key member of Michigan State’s offensive line isn’t suited up for the team’s season opener against Utah State.

About an hour before kickoff, Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press reported that Cole Chewins was not dressed for the Spartans’ Friday night showdown against the Aggies. He was the projected starter at left tackle.

Chewins had started in the last 16 games of his career with Michigan State, including all 13 games a season ago. The redshirt junior has played in 25 games in his career.

The loss shouldn’t hinder Michigan State too much in Week 1 against Utah State, but offensive line play without Chewins in the lineup is something to keep an eye on.
