Oregon emerged victorious in a massive recruiting battle on Thursday afternoon.

The Ducks landed a commitment from 5-star pass rusher Anthony “Tank” Jones. A native of Mobile, Alabama, Oregon beat out the Crimson Tide and numerous other SEC programs to bring him to Eugene.

Jones announced his decision on The Pat McAfee Show:

“The relationships I have with them,” Jones said when asked why he picked Oregon. “The way I know they can develop me … I just know they’re going to get me to the next level.”

Jones is massive addition for Oregon. He’s currently regarded as the No. 18 overall player and the No. 4 edge rusher in the country for the 2026 recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Oregon is building an elite recruiting class for the 2026 cycle. Jones is the fourth 5-star prospect to commit to Oregon so far in this class. He’s now the top-ranked defensive player to commit to Oregon so far.

Overall, Oregon has 16 commits in the class of 2026. The group ranks No. 8 nationally, per the latest update from 247Sports Composite rankings.
