No Tyler Warren? No problem.

Behind a near-perfect passing performance from quarterback Drew Allar on Saturday, No. 2 Penn State hammered Nevada at home for a 46-11 season-opening victory.

Allar completed 22 of his 26 pass attempts for 217 yards and a score. Ten different Nittany Lions caught a pass in the game. Syracuse transfer wideout Trebor Pena caught 7 balls for 74 yards. USC transfer receiver Kyron Hudson caught 6 passes for 89 yards and a score.

In Game 1, that duo of imported wide receivers did exactly what Penn State hopes they can do all season long. Last year, neither Harrison Wallace nor Omari Evans — the Nittany Lions’ top 2 wideouts — had a game with 6 or more catches.

The Nittany Lions only ran for 137 yards as a team, but that wasn’t a problem. The defense was stout, allowing just 203 yards at 3.9 per play.

Penn State had a 27-3 lead at the halftime break and didn’t give up its first touchdown until just 25 seconds remained in the game.
