Ohio State’s game against Penn State does not have a kickoff time yet, but OSU athletic director Ross Bjork said he expects a noon kick in Columbus.
Bjork told WOSU that he presumes the Big Ten showdown in Columbus on Nov. 1 will be the Big Noon Kickoff showcase game on FOX.
I think we know the Buckeyes drive Big Noon Kickoff,” Bjork said. “That’ll be a high-powered game. So I think we probably know what’s going to happen around game time for that one. FOX, they love the Buckeyes. And Big Noon is a big deal. They’ve invested in that time slot. So we’ll presume it’s a 12 noon kickoff.
Bjork has made it known that the Buckeyes repeated noon kickoffs wear on the Buckeyes. In June, Bjork called for more flexibility when explaining that the Ohio State-Texas game is a Big Noon game after the Longhorns declined to move it to Sunday.
In May, Ohio state representative Tex Fischer introduced a bill to ban noon kickoffs for OSU football games. For now, the Buckeyes and their fans will have to deal with more noon kicks.
It’s no surprise, though, that FOX wants Ohio State vs. Penn State as its feature game. The Buckeyes are the defending national champions and the Nittany Lions are expected to enter the season highly ranked in the AP Top 25 coming off a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024.
