Gerry DiNardo highlights Nebraska’s insanely tough schedule in Scott Frost’s first season

It looks like the Cornhuskers will have their work cut out for them in Scott Frost’s first season leading the team.

Nebraska is coming off a 4-8 season in 2017, but expectations are going to be much higher moving forward. Frost took over for the Cornhuskers in the offseason, and hopes are high that he can turn the program around.

Unfortunately, Frost does take over a roster in need of improvements. Add in the fact that Nebraska faces a tough schedule this season and it is possible that improved results will not surface until 2019.

Big Ten Network analyst Gerry DiNardo recently highlighted the ridiculous schedule Nebraska is facing this season. The Cornhuskers not only face Colorado in non-conference play and Wisconsin in the B1G West, but Nebraska must also face Michigan, Ohio State, and Michigan State in B1G East crossover games.

If it were not for the crossover games against three ranked B1G East opponents, DiNardo believes Nebraska could potentially be competing for the B1G West division until late in the season. As it is, the Cornhuskers will likely be looking to gain experience heading into 2019:

“If you took out the three crossovers, I’d say they’d be competing for the West until the last weekend of the season.”

Nebraska may be facing tough odds in 2018, but anything can happen on game day! The Huskers will kick off the season Saturday night against Akron. Kick off is set for 8 pm EST on FOX.
