Wisconsin football will be giving its fans something extra this fall while it tries to get back to Big Ten championship relevance.
The Badgers unveiled new throwback uniforms on Thursday that will remind their followers of the pre-Barry Alvarez years. Keep in mind that Alvarez took over as head coach at Wisconsin in 1990. Wisconsin has described the uniforms as a “special collaboration,” according to a news release, that together with Under Armour will help “pay tribute to their proud heritage.”
Included in the special throwbacks is a red block “W” on white helmets. As for the jerseys, they will feature simple white block numbering that will go on a red background.
What about the Bucky Badger logo? Wisconsin didn’t forget about that, of course. That special logo will be above the players’ names on the back of each jersey, and will also be featured more prominently on the sides of the new throwbacks.
Wisconsin fans will have to wait a little bit to witness the new-old threads, with the Badgers debuting the uniforms for their homecoming game against Iowa on Oct. 11.
The program celebrated the unveiling of the throwbacks with a 43-second video that was posted by the Wisconsin football social media account on Thursday morning.

So, Wisconsin fans will have something to look forward to right in the middle of the season when the throwbacks are donned by the Badgers in mid-October.
