Greg McElroy gives Penn State its due in his Big Ten Championship Game prediction.
But Nittany Lions fans, who have suffered enough near-misses in recent years, are going to have to suffer a little more before they raise that trophy in Indianapolis in early December, according to the ESPN college football analyst.
On his Always College Football podcast on Thursday, McElroy explained. He believes that Big Ten behemoths Penn State and Ohio State will square off in Indy, which shouldn’t surprise many. And he believes that Penn State will outlast Ohio State to win the conference title that the Nittany Lions nearly won last year before falling short in a shootout against Oregon.
There is more though. Penn State travels to Columbus in the regular season to play Ohio State on the first day of November. McElroy believes that the Buckeyes will take care of business at home against the Nittany Lions in what is sure to be one of the biggest games of the regular season.
But when there is a trophy at stake on Dec. 6, McElroy thinks that Penn State will avenge the regular-season loss and take down Ohio State in what would be a juicy rematch of Big Ten rivals.
“I think they get the job done, and they bring home James Franklin’s second conference championship,” said McElroy.
If McElroy’s prediction comes true, then college football fans will have double the Penn State-Ohio State fun to enjoy this fall.
