That is not the kind of start Penn State was hoping for.
The Nittany Lions are taking on Appalachian State Saturday in a game that Penn State is heavily favored in. Penn State’s offense did start strong with an early touchdown run from QB Trace McSorley, but it looks like the special teams unit may need a little extra work.
Darrynton Evans received the ensuing kickoff and took it back 100 yards for the game-tying score in the first quarter. Evans showed impressive speed and found a seam wide open down the sideline.
Tradition’s own Dustin Schutte shared a video of the impressive return:

There is obviously plenty of time for the Nittany Lions to take control of the game, but App State is not a team you want to have momentum. The Mountaineers are famous for knocking off Michigan in The Big House. More recently, the team took Tennessee to the wire in 2016.
