Michigan landed a commitment from a quarterback from the class of 2026, and it’s a player with deep generational ties to the program.
Tommy Carr, from Saline, Mich., flipped his pledge from Miami of Ohio to Michigan on Sunday, according to 247Sports. He is the 25th player to commit to the Wolverines’ 2026 class.
Carr initially verbalized to Miami on Feb. 21. But when taking a look at his family tree, Sunday’s decision to flip to the Wolverines probably comes as no surprise.
Tommy Carr’s grandfather, Lloyd Carr, was the Wolverines’ head coach from 1995 to 2007, leading them to a national championship in 1997. He is third in program history with 122 wins, behind only Bo Schembechler and Fielding Yost. In 2011, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Carr’s other grandfather is former Wolverines DB Tom Curtis. He was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 1968 and 1969, while being named a consensus All-American in 1969. Curtis, a member of the 1970 Baltimore Colts team that won Super Bowl V, is a 2005 inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Michigan’s 2026 recruiting class currently ranks No. 25 in the country, according to 247Sports’ rankings. Meanwhile, here’s some high school highlights of Tommy Carr from Hudl:
