Penn State football landed a commitment from Class of 2027 cornerback Zachary Gleason on Tuesday afternoon.

Gleason, who attends Central Catholic high school in Pittsburgh, announced Tuesday that he will be staying in-state to attend Penn State, choosing the Nittany Lions over the likes of Pitt, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Michigan State and SMU, to name a few.

Gleason is a 3-star prospect and stands at 6-0, 170 pounds. He was offered by Penn State in December of 2025 and attended a Junior Day at Penn State in January of this year.

According to 247Sports, Gleason is considered to be the No. 741 overall prosect in the Class of 2027, as well as the No. 75 CB and No. 21 overall prospect from the state of Pennsylvania.

This is a good get for new Penn State head coach Matt Campbell, who has so far secured a pair of prospects for 2027. Gleason is now the highest-rated prospect in the boat alongside 3-star CB Semajay Robinson.

There’s a lot of reason for optimism for Penn State under Matt Campbell, but it’s likely to be a bit of an off year in 2026 after the firing of James Franklin. Can Campbell get the Nittany Lions over the hump?
