Four-star safety picks Penn State over Ohio State

Chalk another one up for James Franklin.
The Penn State coach landed another 2016 recruit, and this one picked his program over Ohio State. Four-star safety Andrew Pryts announced his commitment to the Lions on Saturday night.

Pryts, a Hermitage, PA native, had interest from a variety of Big Ten programs. Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Rutgers and Wisconsin all recruited Pryts. He also had offers from Notre Dame, Stanford and UCLA among others.
He’s ranked the 20th best safety in the 2016 class and the 320th player overall, according to the 247Sports rankings.
Defensive recruiting coordinator Terry Smith and defensive coordinator Bob Shoop recruited Pryts. With the commitment, Penn State now has 20 on board for 2016. The Lions moved into the top five in the overall class rankings two weeks ago and trail only Ohio State.
Pryts will follow in his father Ed’s footsteps after he played for Joe Paterno in the 1970’s.
