April was a very good month for the three Detroit commercial casinos, as their April revenue was the highest since 2019.

Last month, the three casinos combined for $118.0 million. This was the best April since 2019, when the casinos recorded $125.1 million.

April’s revenue total was a 5.8% jump from March’s $111.5 million and a 7.8% increase from April 2025’s $109.4 million.

Largest Revenue Month in Two Years

Along with the highest April total in seven years, April’s $118 million is actually the highest monthly revenue for the three Detroit casinos since March 2024.

In fact, it’s the third-highest revenue month in the last five years, a positive sign after a somewhat disappointing March that brought in only $111.5 million in why is usually the largest revenue month of a given year.

The top-5 Detroit casino revenue months since 2022 are:

  • March 2024: $122.8 million
  • March 2022: $120.9 million
  • April 2026: $118.0 million
  • March 2023: $117.8 million
  • April 2022: $116.9 million

2026 Now Ahead of 2025 Revenue Pace

April’s strong performance has now pushed the three Detroit casinos ahead of where they were at through four months of 2025.

The three sit with $432.6 million in 2026 revenue after the first four months, which is 1.4% ahead of the $426.5 million the three were at in 2025.

Both the MGM Grand Detroit and Motor City Casino improved on their gap from 2025 in April, while Hollywood Casino at Greektown closed in on some of the deficit it had entering the month.

Detroit CasinoRevenue (Jan-April 2025)Revenue (Jan-April 2026)% Difference
MGM Grand Detroit$201,204,205$208,789,4583.8%
MotorCity Casino$127,998,485$129,422,4841.1%
Hollywood Casino at Greektown$97,342,630$94,425,866-3.0%
Total$426,545,321$432,637,8081.4%

2025 marked a slight dip in year-over-year revenue for the three Detroit casinos, falling from $1.28 billion in 2024 to just under $1.27 billion in 2025. April’s production should lead hope to a rebound year for the three brick and mortar casinos.

As the Michigan online casinos continue to see rapid growth, the Detroit commercial casinos are hoping to see a yearly increase in revenue when all is said and done.

MGM Grand Detroit Approaching Pre-Pandemic Revenue

The one casino to benefit most from April was the MGM Grand Detroit, as it tallied $58.4 million in revenue.

That is the most the casino has recorded in a given month since March 2019, when it did $59.2 million. Since then, it hasn’t even reached $57 million again in a single month.

In 2019, MGM Grand Detroit had recorded $210.0 million in revenue through fourth months. In 2026, it sits at $208.8 million. That is only 0.6% behind 2019’s pace.

It would be quite an accomplishment for any of the three casinos to flirt with pre-pandemic revenue numbers.

For the year, 2019 saw the three combined for $1.45 billion in collective revenue. The closest it has been since then was 2024, when it reached $1.28 billion.
