Ohio State’s already-decorated 2027 class has added yet another key player.
Wyatt Smith, a four-star edge rusher from famed St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has committed to the Buckeyes. Smith revealed his decision to On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Sunday afternoon.
Smith is well within the top 100 players in the country regardless of position, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. He’s the No. 78 player in the class and ranked as the nation’s No. 11 edge rusher. He is the second edge to commit to Ohio State out of the class of 2027, joining DJ Jacobs, the nation’s No. 1 recruit.
Smith put together a sensational season for St. Thomas Aquinas. He totaled 115 tackles, 13.0 sacks, and an eye-popping 24.0 tackles for a loss. He also forced two fumbles and recovered two.
Ohio State‘s 2027 class is loaded. Ryan Day‘s program already has DJ Jacobs locked down and has since Dec. 2025. The group also includes the country’s No. 4 wide receiver in Jamier Brown and No. 2 offensive tackle Kellen Wymer. All told, the Buckeyes have the No. 8 class in the nation.
