Indiana football just beat Michigan for one of the top 10 players out of the Great Lakes State.

Four-star edge rusher Myles Smith announced Thursday that he will play for head coach Curt Cignetti at the next level. He chose the Hoosiers over Michigan, Penn State, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Missouri.

Smith hails from Farmington, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, and plays at Farmington high school. He stands at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds and lands at Indiana following an official visit to Bloomington on May 15. He was scheduled to visit Oklahoma, Michigan State, Missouri, Kentucky and Michigan in coming weeks.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Smith is considered to be the No. 246 overall prospect in the country, as well as the No. 23 edge rusher and No. 7 prospect out of the state of Michigan.

Smith is the 2nd highest prospect added to the Hoosiers’ Class of 2027 ranks and the highest rated defensive addition. He’s second to 4-star OT Mason McDermott. Overall, the Hoosiers have added 5 of their 8 2027 commitments this month and rank No. 36 overall per 247Sports.
