Ohio State lands commitment from 4-star DB, in-state recruit
Ohio State just made a major addition to its 2027 recruiting class.
The Buckeyes have landed a commitment from 4-star cornerback Deontay Malone, according to a report from Rivals’ Allen Trieu.
Malone is an Ohio native, so keeping him close to home is a big win for the Buckeyes. He attends Massillon Washington High School.

Malone is currently regarded as the No. 284 overall player and the No. 33 cornerback in the nation for the class of 2027, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 11 player from the state of Ohio in this cycle.
Malone chose Ohio State over numerous other power-conference offers, including Michigan, Auburn, Michigan State, Purdue and more.
Listed at 6-foot, 182 pounds, Malone initially picked up an offer from Ohio State back in January of this year. He’s the third defensive back to commit to the Buckeyes so far this cycle.
Malone is the 14th high school recruit to commit to Ohio State so far this cycle. He’s also the 5th player from the state of Ohio to do so.
The Early Signing Period for the class of 2027 will begin in December.
