Warde Manuel to receive multi-million dollar payout as part of Michigan separation, per report

Details of Warde Manuel’s separation agreement with Michigan have been confirmed, according to a report.
Per Amanda Christovich of Front Office Sports, Manuel will receive a lump-sump payment of $7 million within 21 days of his resignation. His separation agreement also includes $108,000 in retirement funds and “AD benefits like sports tickets,” per documents obtained by FOS.
It was previously announced that Manuel will step down as Michigan’s athletic director at the end of the calendar year. That decision comes amid an investigation into the “overall culture” of Michigan’s athletic department.
Earlier this week, Michigan confirmed the investigation identified Manuel’s “failures to quickly and effectively act on allegations of wrongdoing by Athletic Department employees.”

Michigan says the investigation, conducted by independent law firm Jenner & Block LLP, included interviews with “nearly 300 witnesses.”
Manuel has served as Michigan’s athletic director since 2016. The investigation into Michigan Athletics came following the dismissal of former head coach Sherrone Moore.
Michigan is expected to conduct a national search to hire Manuel’s replacement.
