Oregon RB suffers collarbone injury, will miss early season

Oregon running back Jordon Davison, who was set to start for the Ducks Week 1 against Boise State, is expected to miss game time. The Ducks RB suffered a broken collarbone during practice this past week, according to Ducks writer Erik Skopil.
Davison is the rushing leader among Oregon returners, having totaled 667 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns as a true freshman. He was set for a massive jump in Year 2 in a running back room that also includes Dierre Hill Jr, Colorado transfer Simeon Price and sophomore returner Da’Jaun Riggs.
Hill is now Oregon’s most likely candidate to start Week 1 against Boise State. The sophomore back isn’t quite as built as Davison, but he scampered for 656 yards and 5 touchdowns last season as a freshman. Is he ready to be thrust into the starting role?
Boise State is definitely not a walk-in-the-park first opponent. The Broncos are frontrunners to win the reformed Pac-12, featuring quarterback Maddux Madsen and what should be a plenty capable defensive line. Adding to the potential discomfort, Oregon’s offensive line is not a guarantee after losing 3 starters to the NFL.
The Ducks are set to face off against Boise State on September 5 on CBS.
