Where is your favorite team ranked this week?
Are they ahead of Alabama? Probably not!
Alabama is always No. 1, right? Weren’t they the No. 1 team coming into this season?
How many Big Ten teams were in the top 14 to start the year? Five, right? Why was Michigan the lowest of the five, though?
I guess we found out Saturday. Or, maybe the AP Poll didn’t really know what it was doing when the Wolverines were ranked No. 14 in the country. Same goes for Miami (FL). They got spanked by LSU in Week 1 and fell all the way down to No. 22 after being initially ranked No. 8.
According to Todd Blackledge, a former QB at Penn State, this is why polls this early in the season shouldn’t exist:
I say this every season so take it for what it’s worth: I think preseason polls in CFB are a joke and don’t believe there should be any polls at all until the first week of October. After a month of games, injuries, suspensions, etc. true contenders & pretenders come into focus.

That’s right.
They’re a flat out joke.
Once Big Ten teams start lining up against each other week in and week out, then we can get a real feel as to where these teams truly stack up. Until then, beating up on Southeast Missouri State doesn’t really mean anything.
