Big Ten expands in-broadcast replay review access beginning in Week 2

The Big Ten is adding some more inclusivity heading into Week 2 of the college football season. The conference announced that there’ll be an expansion of in-broadcast replay view access starting on Saturday.
For every game at a Big Ten stadium that uses Big Ten replay and on-field officials, there’ll now be live audio from the game referee and replay official during reviews combined with video of game footage being viewed throughout the process as well as a view of the Big Ten Replay Center.
This is an add-on from the announcement on Sept. 1 that the Big Ten is enhancing replay reviews for Friday night games.
The replay review access applies to all conference games and home non-conference games officiated by Big Ten crews. That’s why the additional replay review access won’t be in use for this week’s matchup between Michigan and Oklahoma because there’ll be an SEC crew of officials.
Here’s the first set of non-conference matchups to feature the replay review access this Saturday:
Indiana vs. Howard
Washington vs. Utah State
Michigan State vs. Eastern Michigan
Purdue vs. Wake Forest
Nebraska vs. Bowling Green
Wisconsin vs. Western Illinois
USC vs. Louisiana
Only 2 Big Ten teams (Rutgers and Wisconsin) have losses so far. However, there’s been plenty of public dissent after Michigan’s polarizing victory vs. Western Michigan. The MAC is even lobbying the CFP committee and the NCAA to recognize the Broncos as the winner in light of the clock controversy.
While it doesn’t impact the clock, it’ll be fascinating to see how fans absorb this replay review access in the wake of that noteworthy situation.
