Caleb Williams leaves Bears’ Week 2 game against Vikings with apparent right leg injury

Caleb Williams was forced out of the Chicago Bears’ Week 2 game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday midway through the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a right leg injury.
The FOX broadcast caught Williams yelling in pain while favoring his right thigh. Trainers immediately came onto the field and escorted him off.
If Williams is out for any length of time, it’s a massive blow to the Bears’ aspirations for 2026. The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner and first overall draft pick in 2024 had a terrific 2025, throwing for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions while running for 388 yards and three TDs as he — and first-year head coach Ben Johnson — rejuvenated a fanbase hoping for its first Super Bowl win since the 1985 season.
Thanks in part to the efforts of Williams, the Bears won the NFC North for the first time since 2018 and claimed their first playoff appearance since 2020. They used a 25-point fourth quarter to stun the Green Bay Packers 31-27 in the Wild Card Round before a 20-17 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round.
Tyson Bagent, the Bears’ backup quarterback, entered in place of Williams.
