Jeremiah Smith entered Week 5 coming off the best game of his college career, as he went for 12 catches, 217 yards and four touchdowns in the win against Illinois.

Against Iowa on Saturday, he added to his legacy as he set the Ohio State record for receiving touchdowns in a career, breaking the previous mark of 35 held by Chris Olave.

The Buckeyes and Hawkeyes were in a tight battle at the half, but Smith helped the Buckeyes open it up with two touchdowns. The first was a 12-yard catch, and then the record-setting score was from 57 yards.

The Heisman Trophy often goes to a quarterback, but Smith is making it very difficult for it to not go to a receiver. The last time a receiver won the award was in 2020, when DeVonta Smith won it at Alabama.

What makes the record even more impressive for Smith is that he has done it in about 2.5 seasons. With seven regular season games remaining, Smith has a chance to put this record well out of reach.

Ohio State fans need to enjoy watching Smith play, because it is highly unlikely that he is back in college next season.
