Iowa lost the Floyd of Rosedale to Minnesota over the weekend, a disappointing defeat for a Hawkeyes team that still had major College Football Playoff aspirations at that juncture.

But as Kirk Ferentz revealed Tuesday, that wasn’t the only bad thing to happen to his team on Saturday.

Star tailback Kamari Moulton left during the second quarter of the contest, and his head coach said that the senior is going to be shut down for the rest of the season as he rehabs.

The news is especially saddening for Hawkeyes fans considering Moulton has spent all 4 of his years in college with Iowa, biding his time early in his career before being a focal point of the backfield in 2025.

And while the rushing attack hadn’t been up to its usual standards thus far this season, Moulton had still ran for over 500 yards before getting hurt, including a 208-yard, 2-touchdown performance against Washington right before the Minnesota game.

With the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native sidelined, the Hawkeyes will likely turn to junior Xavier Williams, who has played in a backup role to Moulton for the past two seasons and tallied 187 yards and 3 touchdowns up to this point in the year.

Iowa will have to navigate a tricky slate of games without Moulton to end the campaign, as after Wisconsin visits this Saturday, road trips to Northwestern and Illinois are mixed in with home dates against rival Nebraska and a suddenly resurgent Purdue squad.
