Dwayne Haskins has more passing TDs than nearly every college football team

It doesn’t take a college football expert or an NFL scout to understand that Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins has been really special in his first two games of the 2018 season.
Through the first two weeks of the college football season, Haskins has completed 79 percent of his passes for 546 yards, nine touchdowns and an interception. A pretty incredible stat line for a brand new starter.
But here’s a really remarkable statistic: Haskins’ nine touchdown passes is a higher total than 125 college football teams have racked up through the air. That stat comes from CBS Sports writer Dennis Dodd.

It’s usually not too surprising that a quarterback have more touchdown passes than several teams. Usually there’s only guy playing the position, so if you rank second in touchdown passes nationally, you’re going to have the upper hand on a lot of teams, too.
But it’s a little bit more interesting early in the season, when teams are using two, sometimes three quarterbacks. Whether that’s to get a read on which passer is having the better day or if its due to blowout games.
Either way, Haskins has been incredible through the first two weeks of the season. This stat is just further evidence.
