P.J. Fleck addresses injury to Minnesota RB Rodney Smith

The status of Minnesota running back Rodney Smith is still in question.
During Saturday night’s game against Fresno State, Smith suffered a leg injury early, sidelining him for the remainder of the game. The severity of the running back’s injury was unknown at the time, but head coach P.J. Fleck hoped to know more Sunday.
Fleck still didn’t have those answers on Sunday morning when he appeared on WCCO Radio for his weekly talk show. He said there still aren’t any details about Smith’s injury at the time.
Smith had just one carry for one yard before leaving the contest.

Smith has been a huge part of Minnesota’s offense over the last four years, hitting the 600-yard mark in each of his three previous seasons.
Last fall, the Gopher running back totaled 977 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games. Last week against New Mexico State, he recorded 153 yards on 24 carries.
The status of Smith is significant as he plays a key role in Minnesota’s offense.
The Gophers still have one final non-conference game before entering B1G play. They will host Miami (Ohio) next Saturday.
