This is one way to start your career.
Penn State put up impressive numbers in the second half to pull away from Pittsburgh Saturday. The Nittany Lions found themselves in a tight game with their in-state rivals at halftime. Fortunately, it wasn’t close for very long after the break.
Penn State found a way to put up 37 points following half time to pull away for a huge 51-6 win. Starting QB Trace McSorley scored three touchdowns in the game, but the final points of the night were put up by freshman QB Sean Clifford.
Clifford only got the chance to throw one pass in the game. He made sure to make it count. Clifford connected on a beautiful throw from 34 yards out for his first career touchdown.
In a video shared by Penn State Football Monday, Clifford recounted his first career completion and touchdown. He did call the moment “incredible,” but he focused the attention on the players around him:
“It was incredible,” said Clifford. “We had a great play call…Good routes by the receivers, good protection. I just got the chance to throw it.”
