Michael Thomas is one of the NFL’s top receivers. Anyone who doubts that needs to go back and watch the 2018 season opener for the New Orleans star.
Thomas hauled in 16 receptions for 180 yards and a touchdown for the Saints a Week 1 shootout against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Though New Orleans came out on the wrong end of a 48-40 finish, Thomas’ big day was a record-setting performance.
The 16 receptions were a franchise record.

Thomas has been a 1,000-yard receiver each of his first two seasons in the NFL. In 2016, the former Buckeye had 92 catches for 1,137 yards and nine touchdowns. Last year, he totaled 1,245 yards and five touchdowns with 104 receptions.
Thomas was named to the NFC Pro Bowl team in 2017.
Clearly Thomas is becoming one of the toughest receivers to defend in the NFL. After just one week, he’s already on pace for his third-straight 1,000-yard receiving season.
