As we enter the third week of the season, we’re beginning to have some clarity across the college football landscape. Maybe not a lot, but some.

On Wednesday morning, SEC Network host and college football guru Paul Finebaum met with ESPN’s First Take to talk about his top five teams entering the third week of the year. While Finebaum tries to be as fair as possible, he couldn’t help but be a bit of a homer this week, putting three SEC teams on the list.

Finebaum had Alabama at No. 1, Georgia at No. 2, Clemson at No. 3, Ohio State at No. 4 and Auburn rounding out the top 5. He kept the Buckeyes in the same spot as last week.

Oklahoma was the only team to drop out of Finebaum’s top five.

The Buckeyes will have an opportunity to make a statement this weekend, taking on No. 15 TCU in Arlington, Texas. Ohio State hasn’t faced much of a challenge so far this year, taking down Oregon State 77-31 and Rutgers 52-3.

A strong showing from Ohio State on Saturday might convince Finebaum that the Buckeyes are just as good as those other SEC teams.
