To start the 2018 season, Rutgers was being Rutgers.

Everybody knows that the Scarlet Knights aren’t in the cream of the crop of the Big Ten. They’re not even considered a middle of the road team.

Rutgers went 1-1 in its first two games, defeating Texas State and getting blown out by Ohio State. Nobody expected anything different.

But in Week 3, an intriguing matchup involving Rutgers was to be played. The Scarlet Knights had to travel to play Kansas. Kansas, like Rutgers, is known for being a bottom-dweller in its conference.

With that in mind, a pretty close football game should have ensued, right?

Not so fast. Kansas displayed its dominance Saturday afternoon, defeating Rutgers 55-14.

And the final score may have actually been closer than what the game really was. The Scarlet Knights had 6 turnovers compared to the Jayhawks’ zero. Kansas also outgained Rutgers 544-274.

Rutgers’ only TD — outside of a 2-yard run when trailing 24-7 — came on a blocked Kansas FG. It was bad.
