Clayton Thorson is at the top of the Northwestern record books.
The four-year starter became the program’s all-time leader in passing touchdowns during Saturday night’s game against Akron, recording his 45th career touchdown through the air. He tied the record last season with 44.
The record-setting pass came on a 21-yard TD strike to Cameron Green.

The touchdown against Akron was Thorson’s first of the 2018 season, failing to find the end zone against Purdue or Duke in Northwestern’s first two games.
He passed Len Williams (1990-1993) and Brett Basanez (2002-2005) to become the program leader.
Thorson has started in every game of his college career, making 42 straight appearances, another Northwestern record.
