There are a lot of key elements to a good kickoff return. Blockers have to be quick to pick up the opponent and powerful enough to stay on the block. Return men are required to find the gaps and explode with speed.
It usually doesn’t involve wildlife.
However, in one high school game over the weekend, Sean Toomey-Stout of Coupeville High School in Whidbey Island, Washington used a wild deer to his advantage.
A video on Facebook from Beth Stout shows a deer sprinting onto the field as a kickoff is being fielded by the return man. The confusion helped Toomey-Stout return the kickoff all the way to the other end of the field for the score.
They say anything can happen in football, but the deer took that saying to a whole new level.
Do you think he was named team MVP for the game?
