Urban Meyer has received a lot of criticism this year, but at least one important person gave Ohio State’s head coach his stamp of approval.

While making an appearance at a rally in Ohio, President Donald Trump addressed the head coach of the Buckeyes. Thanking his supporters for their cheers and applause at the rally, Trump likened the atmosphere to that of an Ohio State football game. He then praised Meyer as a “great coach” and “great guy.”

The comments have received a bit of criticism, considering the recent investigation into Meyer’s handling of domestic abuse involving former assistant Zach Smith. Meyer was suspended for the first three games this season following the investigation.

Allison Elise Gualtieri with the Washington Examiner shared Trump’s comments:

“It sounds like we’re in the middle of an Ohio State football game. And speaking of Ohio State, they’re not doing too badly are they?” said Trump, to audience cheers. “They have a great coach, a great coach — a great guy. A great guy.”
