Michigan’s season-opening loss to Notre Dame seems years ago following another big win for the Wolverines.

A matchup with Wisconsin that seemed exciting leading up to kickoff turned into a rout in the second half. The Wolverines outscored the Badgers 25-6 after the break to pull away for another dominant win.

It was a complete performance by Michigan as the team improved to 6-1 on the season and kept its College Football Playoff hopes alive. The win jumped the Wolverines to No. 6 on the latest AP Poll, and there is still plenty of time to record more signature wins this season.

The number of big games remaining for Michigan is one reason Paul Finebaum believes Jim Harbaugh’s squad is still a contender for the Playoff. Sam Hellman with 247 Sports shared Finebaum’s comments from ESPN’s SportsCenter:

“They are because they have so many opportunities ahead,” Finebaum said. “The Notre Dame game is long gone. They have Michigan State. They have an elite program that James Franklin has developed at Penn State (laughs) — didn’t hear his press conference last night. … Then there’s Ohio State. I don’t think they’ll get there because I still like Ohio State, but give Jim Harbaugh credit. A lot of people were trying to write him off a couple of weeks ago.”

The next opportunity for Michigan to make a big statement will be Saturday against Michigan State. Kickoff for the rivalry game is set for 12 pm EST on FOX.
