Nick Bosa made the decision on Tuesday that he would be sitting out the rest of the 2018 college football season due to his injury in order to prepare for the NFL Draft.

Maybe Ohio State fan are salty about the decision because Bosa was an absolute difference-maker. But, Buckeye fan or not, it’s understandable that a potential future No. 1 overall pick would want to preserve his health. It’s not as though Bosa is healthy and can play.

He’s hurt.

But still, people will be hard on him. That’s just the way sports goes.

Soon after Nick’s decision, his father, John Bosa, commented on his decision:

“There’s timeframes for injuries, and then timeframes for an elite pass rusher,” John Bosa said. “It’s not about rehabbing so you can be back on the used car lot or be a mechanic. When is he able to be safe and play at the same level? When you look at the preparation he goes through in preseason, that’s not a realistic timeframe for it to be safe. It’s just not.”

John also talked about Nick’s season to this point and what he’s gone through:

“He clearly played through some pain for the first couple games,” John Bosa said. “He had some slight tears happening in there. He definitely had some discomfort in the left side of his groin. We thought it was something he could play with and manage.”

Ultimately, Nick’s father knows the decision wasn’t an easy one:

“This is really heartbreaking for me,” John Bosa said. “He was going to have an epic, epic year. That kid was on pace for some scary record-setting things. It was the right thing to do, but it doesn’t make it any easier.”

What’s your thought, Buckeye fans?
