Neither side wants to provide too much information. When it comes to Saturday’s game between Michigan and Michigan State, neither side is wanting to reveal its hand.
Earlier this week, Jim Harbaugh refused to talk about injuries. He was asked about guys like Rashan Gary and Tarik Black, but continually responded with “I’m not talking about injuries.”
His counterpart at Michigan State is tight-lipped, as well.
The Spartans have yet to release a depth chart, according to MLive.com. Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio has been quiet on the injury front. But there could be some serious depth concerns for MSU heading into Saturday’s rivalry matchup.
Receivers Cody White, Darrell Steward, Cam Chambers and Jalen Nailor have all missed time with various injuries. There have been issues on the offensive line, particularly with David Beedle, Kevin Jarvis and Cole Chewins.
There are plenty of other concerns at several other positions.
“I can keep giving the depth chart, but it really doesn’t matter because a lot of the times it changes on Saturday afternoon,” Dantonio said on Tuesday. “So just this week, we just decided, hey, let’s just not do it.”
Was that really the thought process? Or is this a game of cat-and-mouse between Dantonio and Harbaugh?
Michigan State has been hampered by injuries all year long. You could argue it’s the reason the Spartans are 4-2 rather than 5-1 or even undefeated. For the most part, Dantonio has been (fairly) transparent about the injury situation this season.
Do things really change that much on Saturday? Or does he want to keep Michigan guessing as much as possible?
Whatever the case, it certainly makes things a little more interesting for Saturday afternoon.
